About Us

Meet Caroline:

Hey, I’m Caroline, and I just graduated from the University of Virginia (UVA) with a BA in English and Religious Studies.  Over these last four years, when I wasn’t doing school work or hanging out with friends, I could be found working as a Classroom Consultant and ESL Assistant, interning with both the local government’s Human Resources department and a College Counseling office, and, of course, rooting for the Cavaliers!

I was born in Arlington and am excited to be back in the area after four great years in Charlottesville.  My favorite activities are hiking, tennis, traveling, seeing movies and shows, relearning how to ski, and spending time with my amazing family and friends.

During the next year, I hope to finish up some art projects, learn to golf, catch some Caps games, and master scaling the cliff faces in Part A of the Billy Goat Trail.

Meet Laura:

Hi!  I’m Laura and I recently graduated from Colgate University, a small liberal arts college in upstate NY, with a BA in Sociology and Anthropology.  Even though my college years are over, I am excited to join the ‘real world’ and start a new chapter of my life.

This includes the creation of youngDCliving–a blog dedicated to sharing my love of design, art, food, and travel–all based in my hometown of Washington, DC.  I am using this next year to take prerequisite courses and apply to accelerated nursing school.  Eventually I want to become a Nurse Practitioner.

My interests include: traveling, cooking, painting, reading, decorating & design, and fitness.  My fellow blogger, Caroline, and I met as neighbors when we were 5 years old and have been best friends ever since.

Hi ladies! I stopped by to poke around after Laura commented on my blog. (Thanks Laura! Nice to meet you!) I live in Maryland and hop into DC now and then for fun, so I am excited to follow along as your blog grows. Good luck! And fun fact: I majored in English and Religious Studies too, Caroline. Small world 🙂

That’s so cool that you had the same majors! Where did you go to school? Thanks for checking out our blog–we like yours a lot too! And hopefully once we graduate we’ll get more DC/MD/VA-related things going on for you to follow 🙂

Caroline — I went to Brown, and I’m getting ready to make the trek to Providence for my 5 year reunion in just 4 weeks. Time flies. You might be happy to know that in those 5 years, I’ve managed to put both of my majors to use in my career. 🙂 Congrats to you both on your upcoming graduations. Exciting times.

Great blog! I really appreciated the tip about the free airline miles for new grads. Look forward to trying the new pizza place and the banana shake recipe.
